Ecolite provides an STC (Sound Transmission Class) rating of 55 with only one additional sheet of drywall. A 55 STC rating blocks out the majority of loud noises, only very loud sounds such as musical instruments can be faintly heard. This is a benefit for multifamily and commercial applications.

Compared to typical industry detail, only 1 sheet of additional insulation is needed for
a rating of 55, compared to a 45 with multiple layers, as shown above.
